Three more airlines have joined the fleets that have banned the Samsung Galaxy 7 from checked baggage, and are asking passengers not to turn on or charge these smartphones on aircraft. Bangkok Airways Plc on Sunday sought cooperation from passengers to refrain from using or charging Galaxy Note 7 smartphones mid-flight and from putting them in checked baggage. Flyers were also urged to immediately notify flight attendants if their smartphones break or develop irregular conditions such as heat or smoke. On the same day, AirAsia and AirAsia X also banned the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 from being used onboard and checked baggage. Earlier, Thai Airways International and its budget subsidiary Thai Smiles Airways on Saturday banned the Note 7 device.
